.2D Art Fundamentals: Classwork (T07 VSC/Jan-Feb 2012)

In this course, students were exposed to use of various coloured media such as water-colour, oil-pastel, pastel and acrylic. They worked on varied subjects for their classwork which include manmade objects, human study, nature, landscape and architecture in both realistic and imaginative forms.

2D Art Fundamentals: Art Tour (T07 VSC/Jan-Feb 2012)

An Art tour to Singapore Art Museum exposing students to contemporary Artwork in 2D, 3D and Installation as part of their research study in ideating concepts for their finalwork. The 2 shows featured are The Collectors Show: Chimera and The Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Signature Art Prize.

The Collectors Show: Chimera brings together major works of Asian contemporary art from private collections around the world. A tribute to the art patrons of today, the exhibition offers an insight into the breadth and richness of private art collections, introducing visitors to the personal visions and passions that shape them.

The Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Signature Art Prize is an award to recognise artists whose artworks represent a significant development in contemporary visual art in the Asia Pacific region.  Now in its second instalment, the award reaches out to 24 countries and territories in the region, including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Mongolia, the Oceania islands, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and many others. From the 130 nominated artworks, 15 finalist artworks were selected and exhibited in SAM. The exhibition offers an excellent opportunity to see and discover some of the most exciting contemporary art produced in this dynamic region in the last three years.

Students were given an open theme for their final assignment from which they ideate, conceptualise, develop and compose their narrative visuals. They also referred to artists'work to aid them in developing their ideas and rendering styles.
